Drinking Alcohol Lowers Diabetes Risk

According to a Dutch study, healthy adults who who drink one to two glasses of alcohol per day have a smaller chance of developing type 2 diabetes than those who who don't drink alcohol at all.
The finding is a result of a 10-year study that followed 35,000 adults. Results of the said study revealed that people who consumed alcohol moderately and met at least three of four conditions of a healthy lifestyle (obesity prevention, adequate exercise, not smoking and a balanced diet), had 40 percent less chance of developing type 2 diabetes than those who abstained from alcohol completely.
Moderate alcohol consumption was defined as a maximum of one glass per day for women and two glasses per day for men. Before you go on a drinking binge, remember that the key here is moderate alcohol consumption and healthy lifestyle.
