Kris Freeman Visits Diabetes Camps
U.S. cross-country skier and type 1 diabetic Kris Freeman, called a "hero" for athletes with diabetes, is visiting 14 diabetes camps this summer. Freeman, who finished his Olympic race despite a severely low blood sugar episode, will spend the day at camp to share his amazing Olympic story and encourage young campers with diabetes to continue pursuing their dreams – despite setbacks and obstacles.
The video above chronicles Freeman's Olympic experience and personal story of perseverance, acceptance and determination in the face of diabetes. It's an inspiring story that other people with diabetes can learn from. This week, Kris Freeman (diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 10 years ago at age 19), kicks off his 6th annual diabetes summer camp tour with Eli Lilly and Company.
